PATTY DUKE
Patty
Duke is an Academy Award winner, past President of the Screen actors
Guild, best selling author, and has been delighting and challenging
audiences for more than 40 years in the movies, on stage and on
television. Her first major role came as she portrayed Helen Keller in
the Broadway version of “The Miracle Worker”. After a two-year run,
she was selected to star in the movie version of the same show. Her
Oscar winning performance launched her career as one of the America’s
finest young talents.
Still
a teenager, Patty was featured for the next three years in her own
sitcom, “The Patty Duke Show”. She was again recognized for her
talents, this time with an Emmy nomination.
Her
career has brought her to Broadway, Feature Films, Television, and
Voice-overs. To date she has starred in seventy-five television
productions that have included a variety roles in such productions as
“Valley of the Dolls”, “Prelude to a Kiss”, and “Mother of the
Bride.” Patty has received much recognition from her peers and the
viewing public - An Oscar Award, two Golden Globes, three Emmy Awards,
six Emmy nominations, and a People’s Choice Award. She has also
received numerous community service awards for her commitments to social
and medical causes.
Since
the publication of her autobiography, “Call Me Anna” and her second
book, “A Brilliant Madness”. Patty spends a great deal of her time
traveling and speaking on the topic of mental illness. As she enters her
fiftieth year as an actress she maintains a hectic life as mother,
actress and public speaker.
