People are a bit unsure how to react to a Sighted Irish Guy from Chicago and a Blind Mexican from Southern California performing
. but it doesn't take long to find out that the only possible reaction is uncontrollable laughter. O'Brien & Valdez. Now entering their twentieth year as comedy partners, they have achieved the stature of being the longest running comedy team in the country and one of only several teams with a disabled and non-disabled partner.
O'Brien and Valdez keeps audiences laughing with their Outrageous Observations, Classisc Impressions, Surprising Sound Effects, and yes, even pantomime! No matter where they perform, the talented team always captures media attention and an enthusiastic and loyal audience response.
Jim O'Brien grew up on the Southside of Chicago where he found his talent for sound effects and impersonations. Alex was born and raised in Southern California. Totally blind since the age of seven, Alex discovered early that cracking jokes helped people accept this disability. Soon, the sound of laughter drowned out all of the other career considerations and Alex became the first nationally recognized stand-up comedian with a disability. When O'Brien & Valdez joined comedy forces, they once again broke ground, becoming the first disability integrated comedy team.
Two decades have passed quickly and not without fanfare. O'Brien & Valdez continue to tour the country performing for corporate and special events audiences as well as headlining at major hotels and comedy clubs in Los Angeles, Reno, and Las Vegas.
